We Tour America has a "C Rating" with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Well, through all my years at school, and even now with my two boys in school, a "C" equates to "average". Yes, we would have all loved to have an "A" or a "B", but a "C" was a "C". Nobody ever really got in big trouble for having a "C". It is what it is. HOWEVER, I never liked a "C". I always wanted to do my parents proud with an "A" I was an Alden Scholar throughout my college years at Allegheny College (Meadville, PA-Class of 86'), and always took great pride in these achievements.
Hence, when the BBB gave my company of eight years, We Tour America, a "C" Rating, it really ate at me. But I guess I have come to understand the reality of the matter. We Tour America is simply NOT like other Companies typically graded by the BBB. We are a Company that creates 100% of It's revenue via a "phone sale", which requires credit cards (over the phone) as the method of payment, as well as taking a timeshare tour in return for the substantial discount on the vacation package. YES, you read that correctly. How would you like to run a company that encounters those three facets when making every sale: A phone sale, which requires obtaining a credit card over the phone for several hundred dollars, and requires taking a timeshare tour.
It is sometimes difficult to efficiently express the features and benefits of your product when doing so over the phone, as the potential buyer can not see you, and is used to seeing and feeling a product or service while purchasing. As well, we all have always been taught to never give our credit card over the phone, even though a credit card is the SAFEST and easiest way to pay for any product, as the credit card companies PROTECT consumers against any and all fraudulent purchases. Lastly, the early days of timeshare did not make for the most reputable of industries, although today's timeshare marketers are companies such as Disney, Hilton, Marriott, and other extremely reputable companies.
We Tour America makes approx. 550,000 consumer contacts per year, while partaking in the above described Sale. We only have 35 complaints with the BBB, and ALL of them have been satisfactorily resolved, and NOT ONE of them was from a buyer that had actually traveled on our vacation - and we have traveled thousands. I remember in school most of our tests were graded "on a curve", and I, as president, hereby assign the "A" grade to We Tour America and it's dedicated employees, because few other companies operate in an industry such as ours.
Thank you all in advance for getting to know We Tour America better.
